Shell's Iranian gas deal
It appears management at Royal Dutch thinks a natural gas deal with Iran is sufficiently lucrative that it's worth the risk of American sanctions.
Shell, along with Spain's Repsol, has signed a multibillion-dollar deal to help develop Iran's South Pars gas field. The State Department said it would review the matter at some point, and it appears Shell still has opportunity to back out of the deal, but tucked away in a couple of stories about this is the reason Shell seems willing to take the risk, something we touched on here late last year:
